Raised in Montgomery, Brewer received his undergraduate degree from Auburn University in 2005. He then moved to Greenville, SC, where he worked in chemical sales and began taking seminary classes at Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. After spending several years in corporate sales, Brewer began to sense a call to vocational ministry. Not yet ready to be a full-time pastor, he moved back to Montgomery and spent several years teaching in Christian schools, resumed his seminary education at GPTS, and served as part-time intern at Young Meadows PCA in Montgomery, AL.
Brewer met his wife, Emily Harmon, while living in Montgomery, and they were married in 2012. After receiving his Master of Divinity degree from GPTS in 2014, Brewer briefly returned to Christian education before he and Emily moved to Stuart, FL, where he served as full-time intern at Grace PCA.
In 2016, Brewer was ordained as Pastor of Pea River Presbyterian Church in Clio, AL, where he served until being called to serve as Pastor of Covenant Reformed OPC in Fort Pierce, FL, from 2019-2020. In November 2020, he was called to be the Pastor of Covenant PCA in Eufaula, AL.
Brewer and Emily remain grateful for their Lord’s sustaining grace, his continuing work of sanctification, and his kind providence. They have two boys, John (IV) and Freeman. The Ames family is delighted to be part of the Eufaula community, enjoys living near their extended family, and are excited to see how God will grow his kingdom in Eufaula!
